| A’Zambezi’s riverside
setting is nothing short of spectacular and is used to maximum
effect at its Amulonga (literally ‘beside the river’ in
the local Tonga tongue) Restaurant. |
Like the gentle bends of the
wide Zambezi, the Amulonga follows a curved design, and a
giant slithering mosaic water-snake is its central theme. Amulonga prides itself in serving
fresh cuisine to please every palette, with a hint of African
flavour and a generous helping of African flair. A generous
buffet spread with soups, roasts, stews, an eye-catching array
of salads, cheeses, cold meats and dainty desserts is offered
for lunch and dinner daily. Breakfast welcomes the new
day with a range of cereals, fruits and a hot breakfast to
your liking.
|
Truly unique in design, the
open-sided eatery makes the most of the calming views of
the waters flowing placidly by, and the luxuriant greenery
where mischievous monkeys frolic, and the occasional warthog
emerges to nibble at the lawn. This haven of peace explodes
to assume another personality at night when the famed Umkhankaso
Wamajaha troupe song-and-dance troupe plays. The brilliantly
costumed and masked Makishi performers – who, legend
has it, should never be unmasked lest some evil befall the
offender – appear nightly to enthrall evening diners. |
